Slow Textiles

I combined traditional skills and techniques with contemporary designs for this project. This was achieved by using discarded materials therefore reducing environmental waste by giving them a new life.
Research focused on sustainability and led me to look at artists who also work in a similar genre. In addition, I investigated cut-work artists and found that the negative space creates a decorative aesthetic pattern without adding embellishment and dye thus making it more sustainable.The theme of my work was to reconnect traditional techniques to objects that have had a previous function in order to create sustainable, mixed media designs.
